Clean and consistent flokati, love it
I was a little apprehensive because of some bad reviews here, but decided to take a chance because the good were more convincing than the bad, plus it’s wool and would still be useful. The flokati I received exceeds my expectations. I love it, and think it’s well worth the $90 for the 3’x5’. The pile is long, clean, and consistent throughout, no sign of farmyard or tiny burrs (wasn’t a dealbreaker for me). Everyone who’s seen it has complimented it. I plan to buy at least one more.

All my fault. So now this is happening.
Here is what I just wrote to the seller:Hello, I just washed the rug and used a small amount of clear liquid detergent, and laid it out to dry in the sun. I noticed that there was about 50% of it that was a new shade of dark grayish yellow and parts of the rug were a brighter white than before. It seems that around the edges it is whiter and toward the center it is a yellow color now. An embarrassing and noticeable shade of yellow, not a faint misty cream. Now I can't use it. I tried a re-wash with a half-dose of regular powdered laundry detergent about 1/2 cup of bleach in a full tub of warm water and an overnight soak but the yellow color didn't even fade at all. Can you please help me to correct this issue? It is the first time I have washed it. Should I keep trying? Vinegar? I'm out of ideas. Thank you for your feedback. Otherwise, I think it is lovely and it is the second of this type of rug I have purchased from you. I need to know before I try to wash the other one.Ok so here is the wrap up:Good morning,I do appreciate the time in responses. Well, now I know that my 1/4 cup of clear liquid laundry detergent diluted in 20 gallons of water, and then did rinse out, must not be suitable for wool!! And it was wrong of me to lay out the white clean rug to dry in the sun! I did try spot bleaching but it made it yellower. At least now it is clear to me that this disappointing experience was completely my own fault.Take care and thank you.Hide quoted textOn Fri, Jul 7, 2017 at 7:19 AM, Super Area Rugs - Amazon Marketplace <***@marketplace.amazo> wrote:Hi *******,Please see below the response from your product specialist/weaver.===============================This is very odd but I can remember one similar incidence that was reported to us by a client about 15 years ago when they washed a White Flokati using a detergent not suitable for wool! Wool is a sensitive fibre by nature. As you know Flokati must be washed only by hand with mild detergents that are special for wool, in cold or lukewarm water. But not only Flokati, all woollen products (clothes etc) must be washed with special detergents for wool. In this past incidence, the customer had washed a Flokati with an unsuitable detergent (I do not remember if (s)he used a washing machine) and then left it to dry without rinsing in direct sunlight. The residues on this detergent reacted with the sunlight and caused yellow spots.I cannot know how much damage the wool in the Flokati of your customer is right now but it is very possible that spot bleaching can undo most of the damage. But in any case I would suggest that this should be done by a professional.===============================Kind Regards,Randy

CAN be decently good.... if you don't mind some intensive prepwork
Well, after finding out how awesome wool is both from cloth diaper wool covers and due to my son's eczema and his greater need of natural fiber, when looking for a rug for my kid's reading nook on our otherwise hardwood floors, it looked like was the way to go. It's mold and mildew resistant, fire resistant, water resistant ( thus it's use in cloth diaper covers and my favorite kind though they need to be lanolized) doesn't need to be cleaned very often, good in hot or cold weather, resists wear (Wool can withstand being bent 20,000 times without breaking. In comparison, cotton breaks after 3,000 bends, silk after 2,000, and rayon can only be bent 75 times without breaking) and has antibacterial and antimicrocial properties... for example. So we've established wool is awesome. So what about this PARTICULAR wool rug? Using techniques I used for my wool covers, it is now a good rug with hardly any shedding but it definitely didn't start that way. I have some before and after pics if you can tell hopefully which are which but it need a lot of work to get ot there. First off the rug was full of "burrs" that must have gotten trapped in the sheep's wool..a TON of them and some deep down in the fiber. Also the ends that stood up were linked together like and upside down u of wool coming out of the bottom of the rug which I show in one picture. It's as though the strands of wool got tangled with each other.So..on to how I remedied this. The PrepJust like with my wool covers I took maybe 4 in of Lanolin from a tube of Lansinoh lanolin and put that in a small glass container I have and half filled it with hot water and a little bit of the Euclan wool wash to mix it well. Then, after filling a bathtub with luke warm water and Euclan I poured the lanolin mixture in with it. My daughter enjoyed stepped on the rug to "agitate" it though. I'll admit, that part was fun, the rest was a tedious pain in the butt, but for the price for this wool rug, I'll make do. After it soaked and while it was hanging to dry using a shower curtain to keep the floor from getting wet, I took tweezers to pick out the burrs and opened some little scissors open all the way to essentially use them like a knife to cut through where the strands of wool linked together while also using a hairbrush to brush it out. Now I ended up needing to do this TWICE. I probably had 2 plastic bags of wool and at least 50+ burrs ( I quit counting at one point). Now after all that I have had hardly any issues shedding and it looks fine and smelled good from the Euclan lavender. So, if you're willing to put the work into it you can have a wool rug for less than what you'd normally pay

I love this rug!
I wish it wasn't out of stock all the time. The black and white mix is perfect. Very warm and easy on the feet. Ideal for doggies too.

Really nice, better than I expected
This is a great all natural fiber rug! A lot of folks complained about the smell and shedding, but I could honestly care less. It does shed but much better than say other artificial 'micro' fibers that seem to stick to everything and never go away. This fiber is like thick hair and clumps together so easy to pick up, especially off a hardwood floorVery soft and comfortable, feels great under bare feet! i also got it for sound absorption in my office, as wool is great for this and it work! Use to muffle echo and other soundsThe only thing i have not tried is cleaning it, since its new, but sounds like you can use the hand wash cycle on your washer and hand dry

I really love thus rug
I really love thus rug. I was dubious about it when I plaved my order because of the previous reviews. Thankfully mine came non smelly, fully clean and in an intact box!! Albeit no one mentioned about canada tax?! Worth it though. I'm not from canada, so I'd be grateful if sellers would specify there was add on tax at customs. I thought if I bought it through Amazon.ca it would be included. Thanks.

It was just what I was hoping for. The only suggestion is to buy a slip guard.

The back of the rugs (weaves) look more like they were throws
Just not what I expected at all !!! It came in a box ( two 5 X 7 rugs) I expected big rolls. The back of the rugs (weaves) look more like they were throws. So disappointed ... now at a high cost they are on their way back.
