Whitewashed characters
Quality has improved compared to previous versions; there’s now glossy paper. However, this version has significantly inaccurate illustrations of the characters. The precious edition (2006 or sometime in the early 2000’s) shows Adam and Eve with “color.” This version lightens up the characters skin, which is completely wrong, inaccurate and propaganda. Most of the characters also have blonde hair. For example, Moses. Ummm...it’s highly unlike that Moses had blonde hair, especially considering Leviticus 13:30. Come on Zondervan, get it together.I plan on keeping the book because I’m going to simply color in the characters. Yeah it’s going to take a while but I’d rather show my children more accurate illustrations. If you are a Hebrew, I’d suggest getting a fleshtone marker or brown coloring pencils and color the characters in. There aren’t many books that accurately illustrate the Hebrews but in terms of the content, this is a nice book hence I’m keeping it but won’t read it to my children until I’m done coloring “unclean” characters in.

Perfect beginner’s Bible for little ones
I saw our three-year-old reading this Bible when we picked him up from children’s church one afternoon. I immediately ran to Amazon to figure out what it was and placed the order. Since then he has been completely infatuated with it. This Bible is high-quality, and although the verses are obviously re-written in such a way that children can more easily understand them, they are still true to the essence of the Bible stories they convey. The illustrations that accompanied the verses are well drawn. I have absolutely no complaints.

Thanks for including "Deborah Leads the Way"
This Bible gets is right! So glad to see stories of heroic women and characters of color depicted in the pages. Unfortunately so many Christian resources still don't include enough of the stories of admirable women in the bible and they depict all the characters as white European. The characters of the OT weren't white, they middle eastern. So thanks BB for doing a better job than the average resources out there. Love it that the story of Deborah is included and she is a depicted as a strong leader and represented here as a woman of color. Thank you! Like to see you do even more of this! Little girls everywhere thank you--you've made the Bible more accessible to those of us who value the diversity of the kingdom of God! Folks considering this purchase: they also include Sarah, Ruth, Hannah, and Esther and more in the OT--haven't gotten to the NT yet...

Quality scripture, even for our littlest ones!
Maybe you have a little one at home, perhaps two or three! Maybe you run an in-home day care, or babysit on the weekends. Perhaps you are like me, and are shepherding 100’s of children through Sunday School. Many of my students fit the ideal age range for this product, being under age 6. Regardless the span of children you care for, this Bible is an excellent option for all of the “good news” needs of your littlest companions. I have been involved with a Sunday School program for years, and am currently the director of a large 8 room rotation model Sunday School, so I have flipped the pages of all the popular children’s bibles. Time after time, I return to the Beginners Bible for its readability, imagery and consistent quality.Readability:The Beginners Bible is incredibly readable. Its design features only a few lines of text, keeping big words to a minimum, and bed time stories at a reasonable length. The background for the text is all white, making it easy to read in dim lighting or while you have a classroom of distracting kiddos. Additionally, the stories selected as features in the Beginners Bible are digestible and engaging to read aloud to kids of mixed ages and reading levels.Imagery:The images in the Beginners Bible are colorful, thoughtful and do a phenomenal job of telling the story of God through visual media. There are pictures on every page, each one enhancing the words found below. No more of the scary old testament paintings from the past, the Beginners Bible only features faces and people that kids see as approachable animations. In previous additions, I have been waiting for better and more colorful images or more precise pictures to help children depict and understand the story. With this edition, the wait is over. The pictures are cartoon like, which draws the child’s attention, yet realistic, which helps the children understand the merit of the story being told. Each picture is colored well, and the color scheme promotes a sense of continuity from Genesis all the way to Revelations.Consistent Quality:The Beginners Bible is a quality book. Small fingers can do a surprising amount of damage, but the Beginners Bible holds up to even the most abrasive readers. The pages are sturdy and so durable that they do not rip even after your child reads the Christmas story 100 times. The cover holds its shape regardless of how many times it gets passed through play doh or across circle time. The bible is reliable and comes in at a low price, always around 10 dollars. I have spent upwards of 20 or 30 dollars on a children’s Bible in the past, but none have fared better than the Beginners Bible. The longevity of these Bibles helps me remind the children in my classrooms that scripture is enduring, and helps me cultivate a culture where kids want to consistently return to their favorite Bible stories.I am a huge fan of the Beginners Bible. I have recommended it to friends, parents, and pastors alike. I have gifted this bible to families year after year, and never heard a complaint. They are a staple in my classrooms, and I highly encourage you to make the Beginners Bible a staple in your home or church. There is simply no better book out there when it comes to placing the Word of God into your child’s hands.

A very sweet Bible for my 4-year-old
A very sweet Bible for my 4-year-old. He is working on learning Bible stories and isn’t able to read yet. These stories we read him teach him the foundations of the Bible and he loves the pictures. He takes it to church every Sunday and Awana every Wednesday! I suggest this for age 2-5. Once your child is a reader (age 5/6), I recommend John MacArthur’s “A Faith To Grow On Bible: International Children's Bible”. That is an excellent Bible for ages 6-12 as it keeps all content but is easy to understand without watering down God’s word!

My children actually fight over this Bible, so I had to buy 2
My children love this Bible so much they would fight over it. Have you ever seen kids fight over a book, let alone a Bible? This isn't a small picture book, it's 500 pages, where each page has a unique full color picture and a small block of text. Every 5 pages or so tell an important story from the Bible. For example, Noah's Ark, Lazarus, Adam and Eve, the serpent and the apple, parting the Red Sea... each of these gets about 5 pages with 5 unique artworks and 5 blurbs of text. So there's roughly 100 different stories or lessons covered in the 500 pages. The comprehension level is perfect for reading to kids as young as 1 or 2. Older kids in the 5-7 year old range should be able to read it by themselves.

Good book for younger children
Bought it for my 4 year's old girl. I bought two different one's, but for some reason she took this one straight away. We don't reading it every evening, but the times we reading she is listening and asking me the question, likes the pictures. It's easy to read the words is easy to understand, not to complicated. Recommending it's a good book for younger children.

Great Product!
This is the same exact book I remember having as a kid and my kids love it just as I did. This isn't an actual Bible, it's super condensed stories made easy to understand for children from the Bible. I think it's a very valuable tool to teach my kids the stories and morals that are integral to the Christian faith. We have had it for a week now and are well into it as the stories are short and the kids are always asking for another story before bed. The illustrations are fun for them and the book itself is very good quality and sturdy. I definitely recommend it to any parents wanting to teach their young ones (5-6 years old and younger). Super quick shipping, arrived the next day!

Brilliant Simple Bible for ages from 2 Years to 7/8 Years old
Stories are broken down so easy to explain and understand! From Adam and Eve, to Jesus being born it simplifies things in a fun innocent way where kids can grasp the concept and understand what's going on. My son is 7 and reads it in bed so its a perfect bedtime relaxer. Highly recommended first time bible!

Simple , easy for little one to read and excellent picture presentation..
The best kids bible ..for our 6 year old . Especially for new readers the words are simple and clear . Also they can practice phonics reading .Book creates a curiosity to read more and more .First we saw this book at our friend place . The same day we ordered and was delivered next day .We started using this bible as a part of evening prayer , initially we asked him to read I story , but he was eager to read more stories . Now evening rosary time had become his favourite as he eagerly waits to read his bible. The picture are so self explanatory and even myself is more curious to turn to next story .
