We just had our 40th class reunion this summer and made our own "souvenir CD" with songs of the 60s that meant something special to our class. The most difficult part of this endeavor was paring it down to 16 songs!! And we found that most of our favorites were from 1966. It was absolutely the BEST year for music in the 60s that were FULL of top hits and great songs. So I bought this to go along with my souvenir CD and now have a great selection of songs of my youth! One of the best CDs I've ever purchased!

Songs might not be exactly as depicted, but . . .
The image shows "I'm a Believer"; "Summer in the City"; "Wild Thing"; "Hanky Panky"; "When a Man Loves a Woman"; "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration"; "Monday, Monday"; "Good Vibrations"; "Devil with a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly"; and "Good Lovin'".The CD that I received has "I'm a Believer"; "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration"; "Monday, Monday"; "Summer in the City"; "You Can't Hurry Love"; "Wild Thing"; "Reach Out I'll Be There"; "Hanky Panky"; "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'"; and "Good Vibrations."Either way, all but one song on this CD made Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart for 1966, which ended up being revised because some data came in late. ("California Dreamin'" went from #1 to #10 for the year, and "Ballad of the Green Berets" from #10 to #1 on the revised list.) "I'm a Believer" hit the #1 spot during the week ending December 31, 1966, and was #5 on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 for 1967. (The Billboard lists can be found on Wikipedia.)Even with the minor differences in the included songs, I know it'll be a good part of the background music for the cookout/pool party on the second day of my class reunion weekend. The CD I received appears to be in good shape, with its front booklet intact. You might have to pay a little more for one in good or better condition, so choose sellers wisely.

Anyone who grew up in the 50s, 60s and 70s and loved the rock music of the time will love this CD.
I was born and raised during the Golden Age of Rock and Roll. Rock and roll was first aired when I was age three, so I was steeped in the Golden Oldies. My favorite time of rock music was from 1964 through 1972. These were the best years in my opinion and whoever loved the music from that period will love this CD.

A great collection!
The songs are awesome and get your feet tapping and moving. An excellent choice of songs by Billboard magazine. An great addition to anyone's collection music from the 1960s. The headliner notes inside are excellent and brings back good and bad memories of such an interesting decade in the history of the United States.
