Best Buy!
I was hesitant in buying this smart charger after reading the negative reviews but I went ahead with my instincts. If you are reading this, the reason why people are having issues with it not working or it stops working is that they must not have read and followed the instructions. I made a point of reading the instructions for this charger.I place the batteries into the charger then plug the cord into the wall socket and then connect the cord to the charger. The latter is where people go wrong! If you follow the instructions you should not have any issues with it not working. I deliberately did not write a review until now, months later, so that I can see for myself. As of writing, it works perfectly fine, no issues and I use the charger on a weekly basis. Hope this helps!

It's charging longer than it should
I've used powerex chargers (I've got 4, so far) for over ten years and they've all served me well. They charged relatively fast without generating alarming heat like other brands and had proven to be reliable. I needed a spare unit so I ordered the same model. I'm using it to charge AAA batteries and was expecting a quick charge like my old units of the same model. I was surprised that this one charges twice as long- like a regular charger, not a Quick one. I tested it repeatedly with the same results. I was thinking of sending it back for a refund or replacement but didn't want to spend on mailing anymore. I decided to keep it and it's serving me now as a "Slow Charger"

An important item in an extended Electrical outage
If your concerned about extended electrical power outages and recharging flashlight batteries you need to get this.Unlike old rechargeables with numerous issues, new rechargeable batteries go quite well with modern lower power demand electronic devices. Besides being "green" it saves tons of money going to NiMH rechargeable batteries and they don't leak!Plugging this unit into your Vehicles cigarette lighter outlet (I guess the PC description is now "Accessory outlet") allows you to recharge AAA & AA batteries commonly used in small & mobile electronics. My personal opinion is this battery charger, a car charger cord for your cellphone and a small 12V to 120VAC inverter for your auto are must have emergency items.

Nice, quick compact charger
I had a similar Powerex charger for over a decade before it finally croaked on me - I bought this as a replacement and it's almost identical except it charges even faster. Thumbs up.

Great in your rv/camper when not on shore power
A simple product that is powered via a DC outlet. It's great for your camper when not on AC or shore power. The plastic cover is pretty hard to open if you push it totally closed, so I don't.
