Autism - Just the Facts
This compact (7.7 x 5 x 0.4 inches), yet highly accessible and informative text is a title from the "The Facts" series published by Oxford University press. A leading authority in the field of autism, Professor Baron-Cohen provides us with an comprehensive and readable summary of the current state of the research and science of autism spectrum disorders. Each chapter begins by listing key points of the relevant discussion and content. The first chapter introduces the reader to classic autism (autistic disorder) and Asperger syndrome by describing a child with each of the diagnoses. Subsequent chapters include a discussion of history and prevalence, assessment, neurobiological factors, major psychological theories, and intervention, education, and treatment. Autism and Asperger Syndrome (The Facts) is a valuable resource for both professionals and those touched by autism related conditions. It is an excellent companion to other research-based texts in the field and is highly recommended to experienced professionals, as well as those new to the field.A Best Practice Guide to Assessment and Intervention for Autism and Asperger Syndrome

Great, and easy to read.
I loved it. Was the first Baron- Cohen I read. Read it in one go, without stopping. And I have read lots and lots of papers and of books on the matter.

Anyone interested in the Autism spectrum should start with this book.
I learned so much from this book, and more importantly got more resources to do my own research. Baron-Cohen quickly summarizes the available research on autism ranging from physiological, neurological, and psychological traits. He gives a history of autism spectrum diagnosis, gives a few anecdotal examples, and includes a section addressing various popular "treatments" and other "miracle cures." He also includes resources for intervention. It's a brief read but very helpful.

Nice and concise, about as good as they get
Even though I've read quite a few books on this subject now, this book was still quite enlightening. It contained a concise and well organized summary of pretty much all the other main topics I've read about as well as quite a few I've only encountered in vague references elsewhere. This book would probably be a fairly good starting point for someone just getting introduced to Autism and Asperger Syndrome. Thanks again Professor Baron-Cohen.

Aspergers Syndrome/ Autism / ADHT,etc.
Lucid, informative and if you have Aspergers, this may well help you; certainly enlightening. Also read Tony Attwood's ; complete guide to Aspergers Syndrome. Both books are valuable to parents, freinds etc. If you think your child is weird, bear in mind that I self diagnosed about a month ago (I have a very high IQ,am ridiculously talented), yet had no friends. The books were a REVELATION; if only I had known when I was a child, It might have been possible to have had at least a tolerable interaction with you 'HUMANS', I am almost 60 years old, life has been hard socially,(like being stood outside the window looking in on a party your not invited to!) Best of luck, Andy.

This book, like all others that I've read by this author, is very well written. It's easy to read and presents all the relevant information for the subject. This book is excellent and I would recommend it for anyone who does, or has the potential to, interact with people who have Autism or Aspergers in a professional capacity - be it education, health care or in a voluntary capacity.

Simple and comprehensive
My son has autism and bought this to inform myself initially. Three years on and I still refer to it and have also lent it to family memebers to help them to better unspdetstand my son. It is short and straightforward to follow. I would recommend as an overall introduction to the subject.

Quick fact guide
Short book that gives a tip of the iceberg look into Aspegers and Autism. I don’t think there could ever be a book that covers the entirety of this amazing spectrum additional need

Great read
Extremely insightful little book about Autism & Aspergers & the subtle & great differences between the two. The book has technical data which some may pass over but in general gives a clear & concise description of both conditions & from my perspective helped understand my Aspie attributes.
