I purchased Autumn Reign's "Truth Serum: Watering Seasons of My Love" recently off of Amazon. I was delighted by the fair price for such a wonderful collection of poems. I can tell that Autumn Reign poured her heart and soul into her first published book. I read the book from start to finish, end to beginning, and have skipped all around. The true sign of a "must have" book is the amount of "bent" corners my book already has because so many poems have spoken to me. I can't wait for the next collection!

Truth Serum's rhythm, authenticity and unabashed intimacy with the issues we face in modern culture are truly refreshing. I turn to the book not only to face the truth of our times for myself, but to share such truths with students trying to decode these issues in their day-to-day lives. Autumn Reign skillfully takes us on an adventure to probe the challenges and gifts of being in community; the callings, small and large, that move us beyond our comfort zones and beyond ourselves; and both the sweetness and rawness of love and sexuality. She makes us take time with the unfortunate happenings that break a heart and shatter dreams. With the next poem, we're clear on why we're here and why we must know who we are to face the world's rich lessons. Ms. Reign gets us beyond the illusions and the appearance of things to really understand what it means to raise a child of color in America with her brilliant "America in Black." (A student of mine chose to read that poem for a student dinner and dialogue about race.)I like to keep Truth Serum handy, either in my travel bag or on my coffee table, to reflect on all the many themes of our world that Ms. Reign has woven into a lovely tapestry of poetry.This book will be a favorite of anyone who loves our weary world just the way it is, but also wants to honor all the sacred pieces and lift them higher so as to create a better world for everyone.

I read this book of poetry and found rhythm in a cadence that is hard to come by and difficult for a poet to deliver. This book was and still is a pleasant surprise! I read the poem "Love Jones" and recognized my relationship with my husband in those words, images, and emotions evoked after reading it. I read it to him that night and he agreed "...this is a description of our love." This book is a keeper and one that I will come back to repetitively through the years because the rhythm, cadence, and imagery speaks volumes. This author has accomplished a feat that few poets are able to pull off and that is being able to convey the most intimate, innermost thoughts by speaking from the heart and soul. She poured her heart and soul into these poems, which is why they capture your attention and make you reflect upon your relationships of the heart. Congratulations Autumn Reign! I can't wait to read the next one!

This book of poetry so accurately describe the beautiful gift of sexual intimacy between people. Autumn Reign has put to words the romance and sexual attraction that we fantasize about everyday. Truth Serum, paints a beautiful poetic picture of mental and physically erotica. Each page, either put a smile on my face or made me want more. Very Erotic in a very tasteful way and you can 'feel' the words. Everything fits and flows in at just the right places. Loved the format, quite a change of reading for me. I Want more!!

I don' t normally read poetry, but I was drawn by the said title and decided to "try on" a poem or two. Seven poems later and I am hooked! Ms Reign reminds us that we are not one dimensional beings, but we are complex sometimes complicated. She gets sassy, sentimental at times provocative, and peacemaker ( black mans hands )I encourage to read this with and to your sig other . . Makes for some stimulating conversation.

I have so many bent corners on pages in this wonderful book of poetry that is Truth Serum! I had the pleasure of attending a reading by the author Autumn Reign, and fell in love with her poetry. The poems take you on a personal love journey, if you will. One of my favorites is "No Invitation Needed"(pg 72). This would be a perfect wedding gift for any couple that is truly in LOVE!
